ANSYS Workbench is the unified simulation environment that connects all ANSYS solvers — Mechanical (FEA), Fluent (CFD), HFSS (EM), Maxwell (low-frequency EM), LS-DYNA (explicit dynamics), and more — in a single project-based workflow. Engineers use it because all physics tools share the same geometry, mesh, and parametric design tree, enabling true multiphysics analysis and automated design optimization without switching between separate programs.
How does ANSYS Workbench handle multiphysics (FSI, thermal-structural)?

Workbench manages multiphysics through direct data connections between solvers. For thermal-structural coupling: temperatures from a thermal analysis are automatically applied as loads in Mechanical — bidirectionally. For FSI (Fluid-Structure Interaction): pressure and heat flux from Fluent are transferred to Mechanical, deformed geometry feeds back to Fluent. These connections update automatically when you re-run any upstream component.
What is the difference between ANSYS Workbench and ANSYS Mechanical?

ANSYS Workbench is the platform — the project management environment, geometry tools (SpaceClaim, DesignModeler), meshing, parameter management, and optimization framework. ANSYS Mechanical is one of the solver applications that runs inside Workbench. Others include Fluent, HFSS, Maxwell, LS-DYNA, etc. You always work in Workbench; Mechanical is what you open for structural or thermal FEA.
Can ANSYS Workbench run on HPC clusters or in the cloud?
