ANSYS nCode DesignLife is the specialized fatigue post-processor developed by HBK (formerly HBM nCode), integrated into the ANSYS Workbench environment. It takes stress and strain results from ANSYS Mechanical FEA and combines them with real operational load spectra to compute fatigue damage, life in cycles, Reserve Factor, and Safety Margin at every point of the component.

Unlike the simplified Fatigue Module in basic ANSYS Mechanical, nCode DesignLife is built for industrial-grade fatigue certification: it processes real time-history load data from road tests, flight recorders, and sea state measurements; implements all major damage criteria; and generates outputs directly usable in certification reports for aerospace (CS-25), automotive (FMVSS), and offshore (ASME, API) standards. CADFEM Ukraine provides official nCode licenses and English-speaking fatigue support in Ukraine.

A load spectrum (time-history) is a recording of how a load variable (force, moment, acceleration, pressure) varies with time during real operation. It is measured by strain gauges, load cells, or accelerometers during physical test events (road drives, flight tests, sea trials). nCode DesignLife processes this spectrum using Rain-Flow cycle counting — extracting all fatigue cycles defined by their amplitude and mean — and then computes cumulative fatigue damage at every FEA node using the Miner-Palmgren linear damage rule.
